The Cradle That Rocked By Itself

Narrated by Anne Marie, this is the tale of a mother, in needle of a cradle for her newborn baby, who just happens to find one washed ashore, and decides to take it home.  When the cradle begins rocking itself, the mother blames it on the wind.  But the truth soon comes out.  This classic tale comes from the epic collection of creepy (and sometimes hilarious) folklore,  The Thing at the Foot of the Bed and Other Scary Tales by Maria Leech.

“I had this book as a kid and have always remembered it. I read it over and over again. Best ghost story book ever. ‘The Thing at the Foot of the Bed’ is hilarious if told right. ‘Milk Bottles’ is sad and a sweet and a true stor,y along with ‘The Vanish Hitchhiker.’ Read them and then read them again. It’s hard to grow tired of such good writing.”
